Todays, Geotextiles are used in Civil & Environmental Engineering like Road Structures, Erosion and Sediment Control, Subsurface drainage, and Waste Containment Systems.Mainly Geotextiles are Two types.
Nonwoven Geotextiles:
Nonwoven Geotextiles have random orientation of fibers i.e. they run in all directions within the fabric. The principal directions of nonwovens are referred to as machine direction (MD) and Cross Machine Direction (CD).
Woven Geotextiles
These are bi-directional in that the fibers are oriented in two directions, called Warp and Fill and normally these directions are at right angles to each other. The fibers are locked or woven into this orientation when they pass through the loom. Nonwoven Geotextiles have multi directional strength properties. These are made from Polyester or Polypropylene Polymers. |
